Curriculum

Aims and Objectives
Sacred Heart Nursery & Kindergarten offers a comprehensive and age-appropriate curriculum using theme-integrated lessons and activities. These learning experiences will strengthen gross and fine motor skills, improve articulation and social behavior, and nurture their cognitive/language development.

Religion
The religious education of the children is an integral part of our program. The teachings of the basic principles of Christianity are presented to the children realistically and spiritually through practice. The Nursery & Pre School programs use the I am Special Program published by The Paulist Press, and the Kindergarten class use Bible Stories & The Jesus Story published by Loyola.

Social Adaptation
Sharing and courtesy are stressed through supervised play, as socializing with peers reinforces respect for oneself and others. The children also visit and participate in planned activities with “The Grandma’s and Grandpa’s” at the Clelian Adult Day Center, which is located at the other end of our building.

Sensory Training
Children develop listening and visual perception skills through planned exercises in music and art to promote the full and concentrated use of the physical senses.

Readiness in Reading and Numbers
All Nursery groups use integrated reading, math and language arts programs.
